Sorry to double sign (hi me again) I did some more reading through you're site and I have more to say!
1: I call myself and x-files fan (at least enough to tattoo the logo on my leg) and had no clue there were books! I will have to check them out.
2: I generally had your page bookmarked so when my girlfriend does her annual Gilmore Girls watch through I could show her the unaired pilot episode. I just saw you added even more to that section!
3: You website looks really great. I love the incorporation of utopian scholastic and other time appropriate styles.
I think that's it for now. Keep it up!

Found you on tiktok and you inspired me to start (and i hope some day actually finish) my website. I've been homelabbing for almost a year now. Technology is cool, especially when you can do it yourself!!
P.S. It's wild that I ran into another LoCo resident on internet of all places.

hey love your site. i think its really cool that you have this personal relationship with jane, and it was interesting to read about your experience. truly a loss. i remember when i was very little that i went to go see her give a talk, and all i knew about her was that she was the "monkey lady," so i was disappointed to realize that she would not in fact be bringing out monkeys on stage. that little memory just makes me laugh.
hope u have a great rest of your day

I am answering your following question: "What are your thoughts on the push for offline experiences and downgraded tech?"
It's great that people are trying to break out of the unhealthy cycle of social media and greedy subscription companies by either downgrading or investing into single use devices. I had been off of social media for over half a year a few months ago and it had been one of the most productive and free times of my life. Though, I have recently fallen back into my social media addiction and I'm currently trying to get back into my regime. But this isn't my first rodeo of "downgrading".
Three years ago, when I was 19, I decided to buy a Nokia flip 2660 in order to end my social media addiction. It lasted only 3 months. I didn't do enough research or actual thinking into how we are dependent on our small portable computers lol. Getting a dumb phone is pretty unrealistic nowadays. I need whatsapp/messanger for work, school and communicating with friends and family that don't have unlimited phone credit or live outside of my country. I need maps, I love gps. That's when I realized that I don't hate the phones themself, just the social media aspect. Phones were and still are a revolutionary device that make life so much easier and accessible. I love being able to discover new places and not get lost thanks to maps, I love connecting with my long distance friends on whatsapp, I love being able to order a taxi through bolt and not get scammed. Therefore I think dumb-phones are unrealistic for most people. Everyone has some phone features that they enjoy. And I dare to say that the dumbphone resurgence is getting kinda fulled by overconsumption.
If someone has a social media problem they should uninstall social media apps. No need to buy a new device. (kinda hypocritical coming from me but whatever lol)
We were meant to control our phones not the other way around.
here are a few other of my scattering thoughts:
-DVDS and CDS from the thifts are only cheap thanks to us not finding them convenient. (Please don't let them go expensive now)
-If someone plans on going off of social media think upfront what youll do instead of scrolling. Find a replacement like a book or a crossword puzzle that youll use whenever you have the need to "scroll".
Anyway I loved your article and it gave me a different POV on this issue which I had not considered before
Thank you for writing it
ps. English is not my first language, and if i made any mistakes I don't care lmao

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! I agree, I think the problem with smartphones is mostly fueled by social media. I think you're onto something with the idea that the dumbphone movement is connected to consumption. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. P.S. Your English is fantastic!
